Dr M Ramam is a professor in the department of dermatology and venereology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi where he received his training in dermato-venereology. He undertook a visiting fellowship in the dermatopathology division at the University of California, San Francisco where he trained with Dr Philip LeBoit and Dr Tim McCalmont. After he returned to his Institute, he has been professor-in-charge of dermatopathology services and training in his department in addition to clinical, teaching and research responsibilities in dermatology.
He was a founding fellow and is the current President of the Dermatopathology Society of India. One of his goals is to promote interaction between dermatopathologists working in our region. He is a member of the founding council of the soon-to-be launched Asian Society of Dermatopathology. He was a member of the Executive Council of the International Society of Dermatopathology from 2010 to 2016 and was the Organising Chairperson of the 36th Sympsoium of the ISDP held in New Delhi in 2015.
He was chief editor of the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology from 2014-2017 and is currently its emeritus editor. He serves on the editorial board of the Joirnal of Cutaneous Pathology.
He has published more than 150 papers, 15 chapters in books and co-authored/co-edited 9 books. He has been an invited speaker at several dermatology and dermatopathology meetings around the world. He has served as a visiting professor at UCSF, Oxford, Ann Arbor, Atlanta and Kuwait.
His areas of expertise and interest include both clinical and dermatopathological aspects of infectious diseases, granulomatous disorders, and pigmentary diseases.
