Dr. Dirk Elston is a highly accomplished Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He has served as President of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatopathology, and is an honorary member of the German and French Dermatological Societies. Dr. Elston has received numerous awards for his teaching, including the Walter Nickel Award for Excellence in Dermatopathology Education and the Founder’s Award of the American Society of Dermatopathology.
With over 640 peer-reviewed publications and 75 textbook chapters, Dr. Elston is a recognized authority in the field. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Requisites in Dermatology series of textbooks and serves as Associate Editor-in-Chief of eMedicine dermatology. Dr. Elston has also received awards for his international work, including commendation from the International League of Dermatological Societies.
