
Dr. Lazlo Igali works as a histopathologist (dermatopathology/gastrointestinal pathology) at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, one of the busiest departments in the United Kingdom, which he currently leads. He has a strong interest in healthcare informatics and digital pathology, been active on the field since 1980s, develped paperless hospital systems with cross-system database integration.
His other fields of interest include standardization, in digital pathology, metadata development, and education. Dr. Igali was the Informatics Advisor for the Royal College of Pathologists from 2011-2016. He is currently the Chair of the Pathology Informatics Group of the College and one of the authors of the Digital Pathology Guideline of the RCPath. He is the co-chair of the Pathology Informatics National User Group and also active in the pathology code standardisation and synoptic reporting programme.
Dr. Igali developed an AI-based dynamic SNOMED CT reporting and interactive holographic “touchable” pathology, He also teaches dermatopathology and is examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists.
