
Dr. Dieter Metze is a Senior Professor for Dermatology and Vice-chairman in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Münster, Germany. He is also the Director of the Dermatopathology Unit and the International Training Centre for Dermatopathology of the ICDP/UEMS. With more than 400 publications and book chapters, Dr. Metze serves as a reviewer for many journals and has a strong research background in dermatopathology, including auto-inflammatory diseases, drug eruptions, and genodermatoses.
Dr. Metze is a highly respected figure in dermatopathology and has held leadership positions in many organizations, including past President of the International Society of Dermatopathology, former President and Secretary of the International Committee of Dermatopathology, and former President of the German Society of Dermatopathology. He is also a member of the editorial board for the American Journal of Dermatopathology and a Section Editor for Dermatohistology in the Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft (JDDG). Dr. Metze’s main interests are Clinical Dermatology, Dermatopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Electron Microscopy, and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy. He regularly organizes annual courses on basic and advanced Dermatopathology in Münster and focuses on clinico-pathological correlation in dermatology in his current Lectureships.
